What to wear on a first date!

Everyone worries about what to wear on a first date. Women want to look sexy but not too sexy.  They want a man to admire their attributes not stare longingly at their chest all night. Men want to dress right for the location and occasion, there’s nothing worse than arriving at a venue in jeans and tee shirt when your date is dressed to the nines in cocktail attire.

Location and occasion
A lunchtime or coffee affair calls for a relaxed outfit like a knee length day dress with ballet flats for women. Men will be comfortable in shorts and a tee shirt.  For a casual dinner date women will look great in dark denim or coloured jeans paired with a dressy top and dangly earring. Men can wear jeans or chinos and a polo shirt. If it’s drinks at a cocktail bar, a little black dress, heels and sparkly jewellery are perfect for women. For men, black pants and a collared shirt will suit the occasion.

Bachelorettes
Men are simple creatures and are attracted to the slightest show of bare skin so avoid micro minis and extremely low cut tops. This doesn’t mean you can’t show some skin. What’s your best asset? Do you have a great bust sweetheart and v-necklines will enhance your cleavage, halter necks are great for showing off shoulders and just above knee length hems and heels are perfect to display sexy legs. The aim is to look alluring and subtly sexy not trashy. If the guy wants to impress you he should be able to use his peripheral vision to check you out without blatantly eyeing you up and down.

Bachelors
The best way to impress a girl is to show up on time, well groomed. Make sure all all your clothes are clean, ironed and hole free. It may sound pretty obvious but apply deodorant and wear a nice smelling, good quality aftershave. It’s also important to get out those manscaping tools and remove unwanted hair from your ears and nose. Colours that are great to wear on a first date are, purples as they reflect creativity, greens show a love for nature, reds display passion and blues gives a feeling of intelligence and trust.

Most importantly be yourself!
Dress in clothes that compliment your personality and show who you really are. If you see yourself as kind and gentle wear romantic paisley prints and soft fabrics, if you’re more of a creative type wear a unique vintage piece. If you like to be the centre of attention wear a bold colour. If you look and feel great in what you’re wearing you’ll be able to concentrate on the person you’re with and enjoy your date.
