Fabulous Florals

​When it comes to prints, I find it hard to walk past floral. It’s so feminine and pretty. It’s fitting they happen to be perfect for the races, a wedding, high tea or a lunch with the girls. 
 
Flowers come in all different shapes and sizes. This 2018 spring season you’ll see roses, colourful mixed bunches, tropical florals and vintage bouquets. Just like a fragrance, not all flowers give off the same scent or effect. A rose print can create a classic feminine look whereas a tropical print appears relaxed and fun.  

When choosing florals, check out the background colour. I have a warm dusty skin tone, this can make it difficult for me to wear pastel shades. I tend to look for richer background tones such as orange, red, dark green, navy or plum.

The background also helps to create the contrast of the print it acts as an amplifier, allowing the flower to stand out. This happens in nature, flowers are more noticeable as they're surrounded by green leaves and grass.

Here’s how to choose a print to suit you:

1. The colour
The bright colours suit those that love to stand out in the crowd, but pastel colours are perfect for a shy personality. 
 
2. The size
As a general rule, the shorter you are, the better your petite size works with smaller flowers. On the other hand, the taller you are, the flowers you wear should be bigger and bolder.
 
3. The shape
If you have more rounded features look for a floral with softer edges but if you are more angular try a floral with sharper edges
