My mother is a natural red head, she told me as a child she was teased as about her red hair and freckly skin. It took her a long time to embrace it and enjoy the fact that she stood out. I always thought her hair was so beautiful, especially in comparison to my boring mousy shade. When I was allowed to dye my hair as a teenager my first choice was of course red! Many times, I’ve heard redheads tell me they can’t wear red and while I’m at it, I’ve also heard they can’t wear orange or green. These myths wipe out half the colour wheel! I love having red hair, I’ve tried every shade from light to dark. What I’ve found is that with different shades you can wear different shades of red, orange and green. The images below show how you can enhance your shade of red locks with the right orange and red. You can also intensify the red with the different shades of green. Strawberry BlondeLight copper and strawberry blonde look stunning with bright watermelon and orange based reds and turquoise greens. AmberWarm amber looks fabulous with true orange and red. Most greens work well with this hair colour from moss through to teal shades. AuburnDeep reds and auburns look beautiful in rich tones of orange, heavy reds and emerald, forest and dark teal.
